Poḷonnaruwa is situated in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. And is the location of the ancient kingdom of Polonnaruwa which served as the capital city in the years 1070-1214 AD. The irrigation system built during this time still remains as the primary irrigation provider for the paddy fields in the area during the dry season. Polonnaruwa is one of the best locations to view the many well-preserved ruins of the old kingdom. The city is the second largest in North Central province of Srilanka. And it is also a well maintained and clean.
