Bandarawela
Bandarawela is the second largest town in Badulla district and lies 28 kilometre away from Badulla and 200 kilometre away from Colombo. Getting there by train takes around 10 hours. Whereas travelling by road will take a little more than 5 hrs to get there via Ratnapura then Balangoda. The Town is surrounded by lush forest and vegetation and is an eco lovers paradise. In addition the town infrastructure is developed and there are multiple options for accommodation, restaurants and even shopping. The surrounding area has been a major center for tea cultivation since colonial times and still does produce some of the best Ceylon teas. Main attractions of the area include the Lipton’s seat, which is a viewpoint located on top of the Poonagala hill close to the Dambetenna tea factory,this is the location where the Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to survey the surrounding tea plantations and the Rawana Falls also known as the Rawana Ella at 25m height. The area surrounding the falls is a wildlife sanctuary known as Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary.
