Beruwala
Beruwela is a town in Kalutara district. The town marks the point where the first Muslim settlement of the country was born. Arabs first visited this point 1200 years ago. The muslims who live in Beruwela include among them many gem merchants. And the beach is the starting point of the 130 kilometer long beach which stretches in the Srilankan south coast. Like Bentota the tourism infrastructure is well developed here so star classed accommodations and restaurants are aplenty. Nearby attractions include Kande Vihare Buddhist Temple which houses a 160 foot tall buddha statue, the tallest in Srilanka.
