Dambadeniya
In Dambadeniya lie the ruins of an ancient city . It is situated in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. This ancient city served as the capital of Sri Lanka in 13th century. Dambadeniya is located about 31 km from Kurunegala, which is the capital of the North Western Province. In the city you can see the ruins of an ancient palace including the moat, marsh, and ramparts, built by King Wijayabahu-III in the 13th century. This time period is strongly associated with the revival or ‘golden period’ of Sinhalese literature.
