Dambulla
Dambulla is a large town in the central province of Sri Lanka. It lies approximately 48 km north-east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy. Due to the town’s location which is a junction, it’s a main vegetable distribution center in the country. Major attractions of the area include the largest rock cave temple complex of Sri Lanka (the rock itself is 600 feet high and over 2000 feet in length), the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, ‘Namal Uyana’ which is the largest rose quartz mountain range in South Asia, and the large Buddhist forest monastery ‘Nā Uyana Aranya’ meaning the Ironwood Grove Forest Monastery which spreads over 5000 acres of forest land.
