Negombo is a major city in Sri Lanka, lying on the west coast of the island in Western Province, Sri Lanka. It has proven famous with tourists and is the fourth largest city in the island. At approximately 35 km apart getting to Negombo from Colombo takes just 20 minutes via the new airport expressway. The city is multi-ethnic and multi-religious. Negombo is best known locally for its large fishing industry and the sandy beaches. Negombo enjoys a tropical rain-forest climate with temperature averaging around 26 degrees Celsius.
